type='text'>Follow The Leader!

Indians (including me) have a mentality of following the leader. The term "Herd Mentality" can be aptly applied for all Indians. For eg. Indians in choosing careers. "Mr Sharma`s son is engineer, so our son should be engineer." We always see a queue and we form a queue behind it. I guess no one ever tried to find another way nor did anyone found a way to reduce the queue, let it be a temple queue or a billing counter queue. A funny incident took place a few days ago. There was an empty space in which no car or bike was parked and it was around the curve ( It illegal to park vehicles at end curve of the road). So me and my friends dared to park there. A few minutes later when we came back there were more than 10 bikes parked besides us.

Hence I found out that when a person takes a risk, people do follow him whether he is wrong or right.

Regards
Empty Mind

New year ... Hence Today I will write something in my blog after so many months of hibernation from blogging.

I feel another thing which I had done after so many months or even maybe years is watching cricket seriously(I have to add 'seriously' at the end bcos i was not watching it that seriously). But today I watched Mumbai Indian losing to Rajasthan Royals. Even though we lost, i enjoyed watching the game after so many years with dad.

Dad is a die hard cricket fan and I was too. But today, it just came to me, it just took me to my roots where I was cricket crazy maniac who did nothing else than playing cricket. I truly enjoyed cricket in school, even though I was a waterboy for school cricket team and catch dropper in my local cricket team and the worse cheating player, I just enjoyed it. Just the feel of the bat and ball, and those shouts and those run outs and quarels for every runs. All those old things just came back to me today while watching the game. I hope I continue this streak of keep the spirit of the game high and enjoy it.

REGIONALISM !!!

Last seven days have been a stressful days for people of Shivaji Park. I being a resident of Shivaji park has witness autocracies against the "Bhaiyas". Living in the eye of the storm of Marathi Polictics has been a rather interesting times. The last few days only one question was raised by everyone I met. "Whose Mumbai is it anyway?"

Yes! I believe that nobody owns Mumbai. Nobody can run Mumbai in their own ways. Mumbai is a type of clay which can be molded as the people like.Which depends on the people and majority of the people. Mumbai is a land which co owned by many people. Its just who owns a bigger part is the main question.

Who raised the issue of regionalism.? Why is the issue of "sons of soil" always raised?.. The answer is because there is injustice being done to the sons of soil. In a Railway Recruitment procedure, a North Indian officer choses a North Indian Fellow as clerk, not by looking at his qualification but just because he is from his same village or maybe he is from the same state. Now who starts all the regionalism. The "sons of soil" and who are qualified people remain unemployed and frustration increases. The incidents which took place in Dadar, Mumbai are evidences that "how frustrated a Marathi youth has become".

MNS or any party is against these North Indians who encourages regionalism and brings the great divide. Gujrathis and Marwadis too have their own festivals but they dont politiczes them. The Chath Puja is been politized and has been a weapon for "Power Exhibiton".(Yes... The Intention behind the puja were attacked not the Puja).

Another question raised here is this.. "How will Mumbai bear such a influx of people everyday". Mumbai has capacity and it is full now. Even though the constitution provides a right to settle anyhere in India but Why should Mumbai bear the pains and agony of people from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. "Immigration shows that the immigrant is having trouble in his own land and seek another land for prosperity"

MODEL T AND TATA NANO

The world watched when Tata Motors Chairman Ratan Tata unveiled his new product "TheTata Nano".Tata Nano is considered as the cheapest car in the world and having lesser emmissions than a motorbike. It has Euro4 Standard, which apparently is enough to make the environmentalists silent. The car has not yet been out for sale and it will gain an momentum once it is for sale.

The world was watching it unveiling but there was some part of history which we have forgot. In 1908, Henry Ford, of the Ford Motor Company introduced, The Model T. The book is about 180 pages and it includes all the details of his presidential life and his work life and his 2020 vision for India. It is really amazing in the way he explains science and god. He interacts with the children in way that never a president in the whole world may have interacted. He also takes lessons from the saints who help him in very spiritual way.It is hard to believe that the former National Scientific adviser is so pious about god and not just Muslim gods but also Hindu gods.

The only problem I believe is that, Dr A P J Kalam is the only one who says goody goody and visionary things about India and there are many people including children to listen him and no one to do anything about those visionary things.

TECHNOLOGY

Technology should be the combination of three things, Arts, Science, Commerce.

ARTS because the technology should be beautiful. It should remain in one`s mind for a long time. Technology should stand the test of time. The Macintosh Monitor, which had a colorful back is still remembered. The look and feel of a laptop`s keyboard is better than a normal PC keyboard. It is Art, which can make a difference between a good looking product-Bad working product and a bad looking product-good working product. The artistic brain behind a technology can make it presentable and also sell able. A consumer will always tend to buy a electronic product if it has a good look and feel and with the same type of technological quality, which is provided buy its rival products.

SCIENCE because it is the most core part of the technology. It is something makes the inside of the technology. Science make things works. The microprocessor which is inside every computer, the chips, the integrated circuits, the semiconductors, to the satellites are made by scientific specifications. Science is the thing which creates thing, but sometimes doesn't care the arts and commercial aspects of its applications. All it cares is about how much will it help mankind even though how ugly or how loss-making it maybe commercially.

COMMERCE. Technology is business. It is after all making money. Sometimes Money and Profit are motives behind a technology and it should remain the same way. Technology is an Intellectual Property and somebody has to pay for it. It is the commercial aspect of technology which makes people like Bill Gates, overnight rich and Microsoft as the world`s largest software company in the world.

I believe that the world`s best selling and most widely used technological product will be the one who would consider the scientific, commercial and the artistic aspect of it. Few companies in the world consider all these aspects.

Nobody cares including me.

I often ask myself this question. What is the purpose of my life? Why am i here on this earth. If I am here What difference will it make. What difference i am going make on people. If I don't have any purpose Why am i here?

Its is really not a philosophical type or something which we read in self help books. It is an question which should be asked and the answer would be the answer of your life. It really becomes blurry sometimes and even some times we have crazy purposes in life. I have a purpose in life to get fat. Many other people of my age are having diffenrent purposes, like to get a job, to get a girl friend, to get married.

These are small purposes, getting married, getting job and all. There is a big picture behind these purposes, which very few people see. If che guevera would have gone home after traveling the whole south america. The world would not have seen the cuban revolution. What if MK Gandhi would have decided that he practiced law in Bombay instead to going to south africa. We would have missed him surely. He would have been just another lawyer in the Bombay High Court. These people saw the big picture and grabbed it.

Even tough I write so many big things about these people. I am going to end up like any other Indian of my generation. I am going to end up having a job in some MNC and then someday will migrate to some other country in search of good money and better job. Fuck the world and fuck the purpose of life. I got the answer of life. As if i care changing the world. Nobody cares including me.

Shivaji park is going to come under the 25% plan?

Today I heard the news that BMC is planning to sell of 25% land of open spaces in Mumbai. It is just another alternative for TV or music. A guy or a girl of my age chats , surfs internet as if its just another phone call or channel surfing on the television. It is really have become a part and parcel of life and to an greater extend it has replaced the conventional TV and music as entertainment. It is just a new way of socializing with people, no matter the distance, caste, creed, race, color, gender or nationality."

20 years ago nobody would have believed that Internet would be a great tool for socialzing people. It was really something which a was like a secret society type. It was constricted to people who knew computers. Internet was really a nerdy users thing. It was never meant to common people.

Even today, i believe that the internet is not meant or understandable for a common people. What if a farmer wants to know about a some new techniques of farming. He has start from learning the computer and slowly move on to learning the internet. He will reach a stage in which he will be able to understand What is internet is and how does it works. This will take too much time. What is the use of such technology which makes the work harder. Technology is supposed to make things easy, not hard.

Another problem with the internet today is, it is large powerhouse of data. It is certainly not information powerhouse. Data house and information house are two different and somewhat opposite terminologies.Information is processed data. For example, if i am a guy searching for some road maps in Maharashtra. The information will not be available and if does it wont be so much useful. There is a mismatch of information needed and information shown over the Internet. Internet is just a powerhouse which is not meant for common people and with common problems or queries, which they expect the internet would solve.

So i guess, there is a need for an internet model which is different from today`s model. I predict that a day may come a farmer will search the internet for farming. A noted computer scientist Vijay Bhatkar once said, "The real use of technology is when the poorest of poor will be benefited from it."

ORKUT LIFE BEFORE AND AFTER

Life before January 2006 was really boring. The internet experience was boring if compared to today.People used to chat on yahoo chat rooms trying to find out girls and ended up having friendship with that gal, that also no guarantee weather its gal or gay. People used to surf the internet for other types of stuff like entertainment through online songs or some slow movie download links.People used internet for entertainment. A person would be lying he or she says i didn't use the internet for entertainment. Last but very important aspect was porn. People just cannot ignore that aspect too. Everybody would be lying if say they say that didn't watched porn on the internet.

For people not using the internet and trying to fall in love - had difficult times too. A boy used to see a gal from a distance and dreamed of having an affair or rather friendship with her.(Still we find them in Shivaji park).
<enter>
Come January 2006. A new buzz words came to internet. "Social Networking".</enter>Even Time Magzine declared 2006 as the year of "Social Networking"<enter> .For people in the United States application of Social Networking was Myspace.com. For India, it was Orkut.com.
First impressions of Orkut were of some kind of dating site or providing some kind of matrimonal services provided by Google. But it simply changed everything. Everybody just logged on. Created profiles. Created Communities.

People just came and came. Old friends met online. Reunions were arranged through orkut. People who were not interested in computers created profile and added up friends. (Now Thats a great achievement).People from various parts of the country just added up including small towns. It became a fad, a cult, website. People added friends and then went on adding friend`s friend. For those boys who dreamed of having friendship the gal of their dreams was now "Profile-and-Click" away from them. Some guys even went on dates , had affairs, but still havent heard about people getting married thru orkut. Communities were created to discuss political, social and yes..... even educational issues. Something which was not done in the real world was done on virtual field of Orkut. As always the coin has two sides. Orkut is now respsonsible for deflamtion of principals, current rave party at pune, deflamation of shivaji maharaj. The government and authorities cannot stop it. Internet is the only thing till today which has survived the censorship of any government.(except china maybe).

Truly an Idea can really changed the world. Thanks to Orkut, now people have become more social atleast in the virtual world.
</enter>

PROCESS OF LOVE

a boy meets a gal.. they become friends. starts sms or chating online or talking personally or hangout. take walks. everything... they start to like each other. If anyone asks which country you are from and you say India then their reply would be "ohh Gandhi was from your nation". Thats what the general imprint of India lies to the west. Gandhian thoughts or principles were used by the west in the mid 70s by Martin Luther King Jr for the civil rights struggle. At that time Gandhian thoughts were nearly forgotten by the Indian people. Some believed or still believe that Gandhi divided the nation and so on and so forth. Gandhi did this wrong and that wrong. But still Gandhi is the sole person to lie on our Indian currency. Truly Father of the Nation.

Last year, Why so special about Gandhi. Why there is the Gandhi Buzz around India and rest of the world. The reason - the film- Lage Raho Munnabhai. This film has made Gandhi famous for the generation X. Nobody would have ever thought of this idea. Films really changed people.Gen x got so inspired by the film that they applied the theories of so called "Gandhigiri" in the real life. People demostrating for rights, AIIMS doctors protesting the Gandhian way against the union health minister.

One man who stands opposite of Gandhian thought is BHAGAT SINGH. Bhagat singh and his gang of members are the idols for any Indian youth . They are the ultimate martyrs of our country.Hanged at the age of 23. 23 age where people dont know what to do in life, he gave his life for the country. Very few examples in the world have done this. His patriotism and nationalism is still followed by the youth. He supported violence, this is where the Gandhian thought clashes with him.

From these things, two most important most viewpoints where raised.
1) Gandhi as hero
2) Bhagat singh as hero

Both great leaders of our nations but theirs ideologies mismatch or simple just opposite. This Gen X should decide which sides to take

Indian Press Zindabad!!

Truly speaking how many stories are there in this world. .. maybe 6 billion or more than that..
every person living on this planet has his own story. Stories are something which are to be told and which are to be listened.

A man at a railway station is a story. huh what story? Is that a story .. na its not ..
if he is killed under a train or murdered in broad day light then is a story. Thats how newspapers works.

They get stories from anywhere and anytime. The Indian Press is very good at that. A boy lying in a 60 foot trench for 50 hours is story. The only problem is about preferences. Indian Nuclear deal should be more important than a superstar`s wedding at Italy. The parliament matters should be more important than a kiss controversy.

People of India are sometimes brainwashed by those channels showing the same clips over and over again. If a bus burnt is shown thirty times then people will feel thirty buses are burnt which would ignite more anger.

Everyday stories are created and stories are told. The only thing is whether we like it or not.
so long live the press.

PS. please follow the BBC Motto "Where news comes first"
